Auswin - User friendly and packed with useful features
Auslog has released AusWIN 2.31 data acquisition and processing software. AusWIN is loaded with features to ensure the acquisition of quality data. At the same time there has been a lot of attention taken to make the operators task easier. There is a training movie on the CD, extensive on line help is supported by a number of mini movies if the operator requires addition assistance.
Data Aquisition
AusWIN can acquire data using either a DLS2+ and DLS4 data acquisition systems, and supports all tools within the Auslog range.
Some of the features include:
Setup
- AusWIN supports a project type directory structure which allows easy separation of data from differing areas or projects
- Details about a drill hole are only entered once and then remembered for subsequent logging runs
- Enter a simple lithological log for a hole and have it displayed whilst acquiring data to verify log is responding correctly -
- A database is supplied with the software for all the winches and tools manufactured by Auslog and you simply select the tools you have and enter your serial numbers to be able to use these tools
- Run a test on your computer to verify it's performance and check the maximum logging speeds capable with your machine
- Check the firmware versions of your data acquisition system and tools if applicable and ascertain whether they can be upgraded
Data Display and Manipulation
- Reads and displays data files in either the new AusWIN format, the original DOS based ALOG format or Log Ascii Standard (LAS) files with full control over scales, colours and position of logs
- Fully edit AusWIN data files, including header information, calibration data and even fix spikes or other data dropouts in any log trace
- Depth shift logs as a group or individually to compensate for field setup errors
- merge various logs in a hole into a single composite run
Testing and calibration
- Run your tool in a test mode on the bench or in the field to verify that it is operating correctly
- View the data from the test as either a time-based graph or as counts/sec values
- Test data will be shown both as uncalibrated counts/sec and calibrated real values if calibration of the tool has been previously performed
- Calibrations can consist of multiple data points and polynomials or straight lines can be fitted to form a calibration function
- Review previous calibrations to verify drift within a tool over time
- Calibrations can be printed in a compact single page format for filing purposes
- All calibrations done on all tools are maintained in an AusWIN database and can be recalled and reviewed at any time
Acquisition
- Data written to file after each scan so no data loss
- Records winch speed, DLS current and voltage as auxiliary logs
- Adjust display scales, log colour and line thickness during acquisition
- Make notes via a Notepad feature as you log
- Runs can be paused and then continued either as a new run or with data appended to previous run
- Display a log trace from a previously recorded tool simultaneously whilst acquiring data with the current tool. Log trace can even be from a different hole so that comparisons of similar logs can be performed
- A diagnostics log is kept by the software in case of serial port communications errors and can be used to diagnose hardware problems
Data Output
- Export AusWIN data files to LAS format either as calibrated or uncalibrated logs
- printout logs using a graphical preview type interface with support for company logo to be displayed as part of log header. Printouts can either be a single panel type style or the standard API dual panel display
- the help file provided with AusWIN provides full documentation of the AusWIN binary field file format so that you can write your own import routine if the LAS file export capability is not suitable for your application
Licensing
- The AusWIN software must be licenced to acquire data with a DLS system, however multiple copies of the software can be kept on other machines so that all other features of the software can be used
- The unlicenced version can therefore be used in an office environment for such tasks as printing of field logs and exporting data to LAS
Training and demonstration
- The software allows for the replay of an existing AusWIN data file in a manner that fully emulates a data acquisition cycle hence this provides a way for training of field personnel without the need for external hardware
Download
- Download the AusWIN software by clicking on the links below.
- Copy the file to a convenient directory and then run Setup230.EXE to perform an installation.
- Sample AusWIN data files are also included with the installation so that you can immediately begin testing and reviewing the program capabilities.
Note: if you have Windoxs XP Service Pack 2 installed download may not begin automatically and you will need to need to go into the downloads tab and give permission for the download to start.
